Rules, classes, and registration date for Hot Rod Drag Week 2025 released

The organizers behind Hot Rod Drag Week 2025 have released more details for their upcoming event, including updated rules for this year’s event and a full class listing.

Following the pattern established by the very first Drag Week in 2005, these rules will be valid for the next three events, from 2025 to 2027.

Registration will begin on Saturday, February 22 at 9 a.m. We have a countdown timer here.

Classes

The largest change is the elimination of the Hot Rod category, likely due to overlap with the Gasser class. There are only two updates to the previous rules.

Gasser Ford Boss 429 blocks are now allowed.
Stick -
Street Machine 0.400 pro tree will be used on the final day

General Rule Updates

  • All classes will now use a 0.400 pro tree.
  • A team that wants to replace the a complete engine due to a failure must receive authorization in advance from the race director.
  • Courtesy staging is now required.
  • Changes to the schedule will be announced with text messages and an announcement over the facility speakers at noon (12 p.m.).

New Award Categories

In addition to class results, Drag Week includes a number of individual awards with two new additions for 2025.

  • Quickest Stick
  • Quickest Hot Rod (vehicles from 1928 to 1948 only)

The race to determine the title of “Fastest Street Car in America” is back as HOT ROD Drag Week 2025 Presented by Gear Vendors is set to take over four prestigious tracks, kicking off in the Mid-Atlantic region for the second time in the competition’s history.
